Copy and paste these 20 questions about being an artist... and answer them honestly! Title your journal "Honest Artist Challenge".

  1. A genre or style I've tried and decided isn't for me: Haiku Poetry.

  2. A common art advice I find hard to follow: I cannot be bothered with punctuation and proper grammar.

  3. My biggest art-related fear: Nobody will read my poetry.

  4. A project I've been putting off: I like to print out a copy of every poem I write but I have not been doing it lately so I now need to print out about 60 poems.

  5. A subject I feel like I'll never master: In poetry, a rhyme scheme determines and explains which lines of the poem rhyme with other lines in the poem. Rhyme schemes are notated in letters like ABAB. These letters represent four lines of the poem; the lines with the same letters rhyme.

  6. On a scale of 1 to 10, I would rate my skills as an artist as a: 7 not bad but not the best.

  7. A subject or theme I avoid in my art: Writing "Happy Poems" because someone tells me my writing is depressing.

  8. The most challenging project I've ever worked on and why: I wrote 19 poems about a guy that I went to high school with after I met him again 15 years later at our high school reunion... In order for me to write these poems we had to send emails to each other for two years so I could get to know him all over again.

  9. How I deal with creative blocks: I watch movies, read, listen to music or I will paint rocks.

  10. A skill I stopped learning... and have no regrets: Reading comprehension... There are certain book series that I have tried to read and I just don't understand what is going on or the book just does not interest me although it might be popular... I am done apologizing for not liking Harry Potter, Game of Thrones, Dune or anything else I am not a fan of... So Sorry!!!

  11. How I handle criticism and feedback: I pout and whine about it and try and pretend like my feelings are not hurt.

  12. My biggest motivator as an artist: The 15 minutes of fame that I will have someday...

  13. A skill I have that unfortunately won't pay the bills: I can write about anything and make it sound poetic even if it isn't.

  14. A project I abandoned and why: Attempting to write the 'Happy Poems" I tried but it just wasn't me so, if you don't like my poetry don't read it... I am done trying to please everyone, it can't be done.

  15. A color I rarely use and why: Chartreuse... What an awful color!!!

  16. My hobby or interest that always competes with art: Wanting to read every book I own and in the end just not doing it. Sometimes, I will wake up at 5 a.m. and write poetry but I have to talk myself into reading a chapter of a book.

  17. A place I feel the most creative: I sit on my bed and write all of my poetry.

  18. A place I feel the least creative: I also sleep for hours in my bed.

  19. The most unexpected inspiration for my art: All of those poets that I like to think about but I don't actually read their work (maybe a few things they wrote but not everything) For example: Edgar Allan Poe is so cool... What do I know about him (Nevermore, Nevermore... that's about it!!!)

  20. My main challenge as an artist this year: Maybe I will actually learn something about all of those poets without having to depend on biographical movies to have all of the answers.
